Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is dreaming of playing at the Camp Nou next season and in his heart he's "already wearing a Barcelona shirt", according to his Spain team-mate Gerard Pique.

Fabregas, who came through the Barca youth system with Pique, has been speaking openly to La Roja's sizeable contingent of Barcelona players whilst on World Cup duty and has made his feelings very clear.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been a long-term target for the Spanish side, who had a €35 million bid rejected by Arsenal earlier this summer, and Fabregas sees his future at the Camp Nou.

"I have known that Cesc wanted to join Barcelona for many years - but now it is more than about wanting to do it," Pique told the Daily Star Sunday. "Now it is something he feels he must do.

"The World Cup has not been a good thing for Arsenal. It has meant that he has been spending every day with myself, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Victor Valdes - and he has made his feelings very clear to us.

"He is keeping his mind focused on Spain but his heart is in Barcelona. I think already in his heart he is wearing a Barcelona shirt next season."

New Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has openly targeted Fabregas as a summer signing but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told French journalists that his captain isn't for sale at any price.

Meanwhile, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola will sign a new contract at the club, Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed.

"We have been talking to his agent for two days,'' Bartomeu said. "We have an agreement and it just needs to be formalised when Pep returns from Africa.

"I hope he is here for many years, but right now we are ironing out the last details and until it is signed, we cannot say how long Guardiola will be in charge of the first team."
